June 2014

Welcome to my photoblog on:
Howell Woods Environmental Learning Center

I found this arrowhead when I was photographing the garden. Nice! As I held it, I wondered how long ago some Native American had used this. This reminded me we were not the first inhabitants of this land. We inherited a pristine planet. It is my hope that we leave our planet clean, healthy and rich with resources for future generations. Please consider voting for politicians that are environmentally conscious.

My name is James. I am a senior at South Johnston High School in Benson, NC.

June 2014
In June we're featuring the hummingbirds of Howell Woods.
Also there are the latest photos of the vegetable garden below.

Hummingbirds are a special attraction to bird lovers at Howell Woods.  You won't be able to stand long at the Learning Center without hearing the sound of hummingbirds buzzing, chirping, and chasing each other around the feeders.  Suggested mix for attracting hummingbirds is 4 parts water and one part sugar.

Here's the garden 11 days after the previous garden photos were taken.
Check back in late June to see updated garden photos.

Next month's post will feature reptiles and amphibians.
Be sure to hop back to visit next month's post.
