August 2015

Welcome to my photoblog on:
Howell Woods Environmental Learning Center

My name is James and I am a Biology Major at Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina.

I love the outdoors and I am hoping to go on to pursue a career in environmental science.  I am looking forward to this next chapter in my life as a college student.  So far, I really enjoy college.  Thank you to Howell Woods and to everybody who helped me get this far!!

August 2015

In this month's post, I would like to revisit the Learning Center.  Many new additions to the Learning Center are now awaiting your discovery.

Yellow-bellied Slider

Red-bellied Water Snake

One of the newest additions is a large fish tank inside of the live museum.
The tank is filled with locally caught fish.

The Diamondback Rattlesnake now has a larger enclosure in which he can fully stretch out and move around freely.  I'm estimating that he is about 7 feet long from head to rattle.  I will follow up with an actual measurement of the snake's size in a future post.

Below are photos of the new discovery room inside of the Learning Center.  Here, young scientists can explore many amazing parts of nature in a hands on environment.  I can guarantee that if this room was completed when I was younger, I would have spent hours upon hours in it.

Come take a look around! Who knows what you might discover?!
